Been Awhile

It's been over a month since I posted here. Work had really been kicking my ass. But today I started at my new gig. I'm Director of Operations at Media River. It's a very cool company that has a lot of exciting challenges. And to top it off, the CEO is an avid poker player, something that I somehow missed talking to him about in the interview process.

Anyway, I'm excited about the new job, I'm already much happier. There will be stresses at this job, but I like these kind of stresses more. The issues are ones that I think I have more direct influence over. The issues at the old job just hung around in the air, sucking the energy out of me.

The biggest negative about leaving the old job is leaving the people I worked with. It was a very fun group, very good and very dedicated. I've worked with some of them for more than 5 years. I've seen them grow into better professionals, grown to be good friends. I worked with them before I had kids, and I shared the news of each impending child with them first.

It is really sad to leave those people.

--------------------------

In other news, my youngest child has turned against me. He wants a younger sibling. He told DearWife the other day that we should "buy a baby and put it in Mommy's tummy." He's solved the sleeping arrangements too. "Buy a bunk bed, and BigBrother and I will sleep in the same room!" And he has been counting the family. He points to himself "one", to BigBrother "two," to me "three" and to DearWife "four, five."

Hey there. Didn't realize you switched jobs. Congrats on the new position, and I hope it's more fulfilling for you. As for the kid counting...hmmm...sometimes the little ones know things before we do! ;-)

Alright, I'm sure it's been fun and all. You had your little break.

Now come back to work.
