Dick Durbin is making headlines nationally with his rather harsh criticism of the tactics used at the detention facility at Gitmo. The short story is that he compared what the US does at Gitmo to Stalin, Khmer Rouge, and Hitler - who according to the linked article above, killed about 50 million people. It's insulting and ridiculous to conjure up those names as comparison to interrogation tactics used at a prison facility.
It doesn't seem as if Durbin was intending to be hyperbolic with his statements. The problem with Democrats is that all their issues seem to be ones where they have criticisms of the Republicans. Why can't they be FOR something instead of against something? And why resort to this kind of rhetoric? I fail to see how this engenders positive feelings towards Democrats.
