Wired Differently

The Bears won an incredible game last night. Some buddies from work got together and watched on a 62" HDTV. And before I get into the game, let me just say, HD isn't kind to everyone.

The Bears are either the best or second best team in the NFL this year (so far). They were playing on a national stage against a 1-4 team, and it was supposed to be a coronation. All the intros were Bears players. The national media weren't even trying to make a case that the Cardinals could win.

And then, of course, the Bears go down 20-0. The Bears QB played what might be an all time worst half of football. That is not an exaggeration. In the 3rd quarter, everything seemed to be going the Cardinals way. 6 Turn overs, no running game, no passing game. With :03 left in the 3rd quarter, the Cardinals were up 20 points. I don't recall the stat, but the Bears had never won a game after being down by that many points ever.

Now, I am not going to get into the comeback, and the eventual Bears win. But suffice it to say that it was historic. This is one of those games (like this one) that I will remember for the rest of my life. I will remember jumping higher than the limits of physics should allow me to when the kick went wide.

I will remember each and every guy I watched the game with. And I will remember that every time we were yelling and screaming during the comeback, that the dog searched out Mike and humped his leg no matter where he was or if he was even yelling.

I got in the car, completely psyched up. I called DW to let her know I was on my way home. I explained how incredible the game was, how awesome it was. Her response?

"They came back from a lot of points? That's nice."

Sigh.
